In the cybersecurity industry, there’s no better defense than anticipating attackers. And no one understands this better than ethical hackers, professionals who use their expertise to find vulnerabilities before cybercriminals do. Today, we present the story of Unonono, one of our most prominent members, who, in a short time, managed to position himself among the best in our community.
From his first contact with hacking to becoming one of the most recognized hunters, his path is a clear example of how talent, perseverance, and the right support can make a difference.
From college curiosity to top-ranking
It all started during his college years. “I went to a talk where they were showing live hacking techniques. I was shocked to see how a simple SQL injection could bypass a website login. I wanted to understand how that worked, and that’s how it all started,” he says. At that time, bug bounty platforms did not yet exist, and the practice took place on challenge sites such as HackThisSite.
More than a job opportunity, it was a passion driven by curiosity. And that same attitude drove him to learn on his own and explore every corner of the code.
Keys to growth: Deep analysis and perseverance
When asked what led him to climb so quickly in our community’s ranking, he is clear: “It’s not just about testing fast, but also about understanding how the application is built. I dedicate several days to a single objective, and I study its logic and technologies. This allows me to detect bugs that others overlook”.
He also stresses that constant learning, perseverance, and the ability to adjust the approach when something doesn’t work are key to obtaining good results. A technical and methodical approach that pays off.
Real learning, driven by CyScope
One of the aspects he values most is the ability to learn continuously: “Some programs allowed me to go deeper into cloud environments and understand specific vulnerabilities. I also learned how to write clear and useful reports for technical teams.”
Thanks to the various projects, he was able to expand his knowledge of multiple technologies and adapt to different contexts.
The community as a driver of growth
“Working alone is not the same as sharing ideas with other ethical hackers. Reading their reports or exchanging approaches helped me improve a lot,” he says. For him, being part of an active and open community, where collaborative learning is encouraged, has been essential both technically and personally.
What sets CyScope apart from other platforms?
The user experience makes the difference, and in this aspect, CyScope has left a mark: “The triage team is clear, straightforward, and respectful. In addition, many programs are in Spanish, which makes it much easier for those who are just starting.”
He also highlights the value of a more focused and less massive community, which allows for a better chance of success and keeps motivation high, especially in the beginning.
Making a difference in the real world
One of the experiences that most marked him was finding a critical vulnerability in a public program: “It allowed remote code execution in a very simple way. It was surprising that no one had reported it before. It was fixed quickly, but it was a clear example of how the work of an ethical hacker can prevent serious incidents.”
A message for new ethical hackers
When asked for advice for those thinking of joining, his response is simple:
“It’s worth it. There is a variety of programs and less direct competition than on other platforms, which gives you room to research well. In addition, with PTaaS projects, you can make structured pentests without leaving the platform”.
